SINGLE MOTHERS - Hell (Is My Backup Plan)
Ever since finding out about Single Mothers over spring break I find myself unable to stop listening to them. My love for the Hold Steady should be well known at this point; Single Mothers is essentially an hardcore version of The Hold Steady sent from an alternate universe where the consequence of not rocking is death. Make sense? It probably doesn’t until you listen to it. Which you totally should.
Replay Records on Whitney Ave in Hamden will be having a midnight opening for Record Store Day (4/21)!
Replay will be open for one hour, starting at 12am. …What? Does that make this the first place in CT where you can buy these releases? YUP. Their final list will be available tomorrow night @ replayrecordsct.com.
If you absolutely can’t make it to the midnight opening because you break your leg or your car gets stolen, they’ll be open normal hours on Saturday from 10am-5pm.

Bomb The Music Industry! - 25!
Too many exclamation marks? I disagree! Personally, I don’t think there could be enough as BTMI is going to perform at WQAQ’s #FESTAPALOOZA this Friday! Also on the bill are TITUS ANDRONICUS, THE FRONT BOTTOMS, THE GURU, GREAT CEASAR, and THE MIDNIGHTERS! It’s free for QU students and $5 bucks for everyone else. There will be free food, a guitar give away, and free FROYO! Doors are at 5:30; we’ll see you there! That’s a lot of exclamation marks.

Baby Grand - Summer
Late (late, late) post. Baby Grand is a band from Connecticut. I met their guitarist at a party once. They rule. Listen to this and party with your friends; it’s the perfect soundtrack.
Cheap Girls - Ruby
Cheap Girls’ new record Giant Orange is out today on Rise Records! I’m a huge fan of this band; I love their grungy, fuzzy sound. It’s like if Dinosaur Jr. drank as much as they smoked weed. Their new record rules too, so definitely check it out. They’ll be playing in New Haven on March 8th with the Sidekicks, New Years Revolution, and Dagwood so check that out too!
Cold Snap - An Introduction to Space
Super deliberate Connecticut hardcore. They recently released this song on an amazing split with Brass Caskets through Redscroll Records that I’ve been listening to obsessively.
